Vicezi ash causeway

Vicezi ash causeway at Talsi town was the longest ash causeway in Baltics, extraordinary element of landscape. Half of this causeway was cut in 1979 because the road made wider. But most of the remaining ash trees were cut in 2000 including several state protected trees. According to the road authority - those trees were too old and hollowed - during the storm ash-trees could create danger for cars passing nearby. Most of those enormous trees had healthy trunks...
